Sinkmarks

Designer: Yoh Komiyama
Material: Resin
Process: The procedure that mass-produces one-of-a-kind products using a single mold and a single process.

The theme for this project is to mass-produce individually unique products using a single manufacturing process. The title “”Sinkmarks”” comes from a phenomenon applied in this project. They are better known as the dents created upon molding shrinkage and are very common defects that occur when die-casting plastic for mass-production. The designer applied this phenomenon to create unique expressions that cannot be conceived by hand or mold injection.
