GRIP on the COLOR

Designer:  Kaori Akiyama of STUDIO BYCOLOR

Material: Arakawa Grip with Leveling Line

Explores the ability to create new spatial composition with vivid colors using Arakawa grip by substituting the original wires with a strong resin material.   For this project, leveling lines were employed that are generally used in Japanese construction sites that more often has high-tensile strength and bright fluorescent colors for visibility.

Various types of resin are used for leveling lines and the strings are made of either synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester and polyethylene or traditional natural material such cotton and silk. After evaluating the compatibility of various leveling lines with Arakawa Grip, a wall shelf unit was designed by utilizing colors.
